Stephanie’s Review:

This was such a fabulous and sinfully decadent book to read! It combines women’s fiction and psychological thriller and crime thriller and wraps them all up in a delicious book that I didn’t want to end!

Chelsey’s Review:

This was a fun and quick read that definitely surprised me! I absolutely loved this book until about two thirds in when it got a little too crazy for me but that’s when the action kicked up so I’m sure I’ll be in the minority on that!

Brooke and Jack move to an elite neighborhood known for its exceptional security and wealthy, high power community members. Immediately, her neighbors Erin and Georgia take an interest in her and bring her into their clique. Erin is the association president and Georgia is the infamous ‘Black Widow’ – a moniker dubbed because her previous two husbands died shortly after their weddings. Now, Georgia is engaged to be married to a new man and when he goes missing at their pre-wedding celebration, it appears the Black Widow has struck again. Brooke, captivated by her new friends, is sucked into the drama and thrown into the center of the investigation.

There was a lot going on with this novel and perhaps too much for how short it was. There were several relationship dynamics, vague plot references, and character traits that were alluded to but not fully developed. This didn’t really impact the story for me but I could see it being a pain point for some readers.

I loved the writing and the use of Georgia, Erin and Brooke all being separate narrators. The women were all so different so it was fun hearing their unique voices and learning about their problems and viewpoints. I thought Miller did a great job developing each woman just enough to get a sense of who they were and how they fit together. Their relationship with each other felt just friendly and petty and stab you in the front enough to trigger Real Housewives vibes and I was totally here for it!

This is a great summer read if you’re looking for something quick and a little different! I definitely recommend.

Thank you to Random House / Ballantine and NetGalley for a copy of this novel.
