Courtney’s End of Year Wrap Up

I am thrilled to announce my top books of 2020! These books are on a whole new level! I have a little something for everyone. Psychological thrillers, folklore, humor, true crime, and adventure. Take a look through my picks, and I truly believe you’ll find a story for you!

The Other Couple written by Cathryn Grant really rocked my world! This story was told from 4 points of view, and I still didn’t have the entire story! It was one plot twist after another, and I couldn’t put it down. When someone asks me for a book that will keep you up at night, this is my new go to. It is a true psychological thriller about two couples who have just met and then chaos ensues. I don’t want to give anything away, but I can guarantee you will not be disappointed with this one!

Serial Killers at the Movies by Christopher Berry-Dee reached a whole new side of True Crime. Berry-Dee travels from prison to prison interviewing some of the most heinous criminals. Not only does he do his best to dive deep into their psyche, he learns new facts from so many of them. I count myself as a True Crime lover, and there are so many facts in this book that I had never even heard about. Take a look into these criminals minds, as well as, the movies they inspired. Not for the faint of heart, but it is excellently written!

Fortune Hunters by W. Byrne is an excellent book about adventure and friendship. Six friends from college come back together in their early 30’s. While they have all taken different paths in life, one thing brings them together. The opportunity to find a treasure that will help them escape the lives that they’ve found themselves unhappily settled in. As a 28 year old, I had an extremely easy time connecting with these characters. I thought they were so well-written, and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if they would succeed in finding their treasure while they were reconnecting with each other.

The Mute Swan by Cameron Jace once again solidified my love for his writing. From his Insanity series to his thrillers, Jace is a fantastic writer. This book is a prequel to the new series he is currently working on. It’s short and sweet, but it packs a punch like no other. I always know that if I pick up a book by Cameron Jace, I’m going to find a new book I love. This book has murder, cults, and ancient folklore. What more could you want?

Single and Forced to Mingle by Melissa Croce had me laughing out loud! It is truly a how-to guide for single millennials. This isn’t your typical “how to be an adult book”, but a love letter to embracing your life and yourself in everything you do. Just because you don’t want kids or don’t have a career path doesn’t mean you’re worthless. You get extreme social anxiety at parties? No worries, this book has you covered. I truly spent the entire time reading this book cackling. This book isn’t for everyone, but If you are a single millennial woman, then I absolutely think you will enjoy this book!

A Nearly Normal Family by M.T. Edvardsson will you have on the edge of your seat! I had this book on my shelf for entirely too long. I fell in love from the first chapter. With a sketchy daughter and a dysfunctional family, this book grabs you from the very beginning. When their daughter is arrested for the murder of a man that no one knows, her parents have to figure out what really happened and help free their daughter. This book continues to build the entire time. No matter what you think, the ending will still shock you!

Have you had a chance to read any of these great stories?? If so, let me know your thoughts! 🙂
