Can you fight like cats and dogs, and still be perfect for each other?
Things are getting ruff in this Brooklyn neighborhood when new veterinarian Caleb Fitch moves in next door to the Whitman Street Cat Cafe and gets on the wrong side of cafe owner Lauren Harlow. Lauren has a few things to teach the new vet on the block, and rescuing kittens is only the start…
Lauren can’t ignore the fact that she is instantly attracted to Caleb, but he gets her even more riled up when he argues with her about how best to treat the cats in her care. Determined to smooth things over, Caleb comes to the rescue when a new litter of abandoned kittens is left on Lauren’s doorstep, and they confront the fiery attraction that’s been building between them from the start. But saving the baby kittens is only the first challenge Lauren and Caleb have to face, and when a real estate developer comes sniffing around their block, they’ll have to work together, or risk losing everything…
Lauren and Caleb seem like a match made in Hell. They bicker and disagree about everything. Lauren likes cats. Caleb likes dogs. The issue is that their chemistry is off the charts. Sometimes when I’m reading a novel the characters’ chemistry is very subtle. Not in this book. You can feel the passion like it’s leaping from the pages which makes this book so much fun to read. It’s a will they won’t they story that I really enjoyed.
I love that the setting is in Brooklyn, because after living there for three years I was really able to place myself inside the story. I truly felt like this cat cafe could have just been a cute like shop around the corner that I would have run into in the neighborhood. The descriptions were really well done of the locations and of Caleb and Lauren themselves. There seemed a bit of disconnect for me when we were in scenes that didn’t revolve around the two main characters, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. It was a quick and fun read, and the perfect book to toss in your beach bag this summer!
Thanks so much to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Kate McMurray for this fun read!
