When Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive…

As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating secret about her new home, and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before.

Alice becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened two years before. But no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbors are keeping secrets and things are not as perfect as they seem…

My Thoughts:

B.A. Paris writes novels so suspenseful, I’m scared to even start reading them. Then once do, I can’t stop. The neighborhood setting is a major player in this book. It is equal parts cozy and creepy. Imagine secluded, small town charm in the middle of London. But I just wanted Alice to flee. As she started learning horrible truths and lies about Leo, her new house, and the neighbourhood, I was drawn in to her fear and paranoia. Between her investigations, the feeling that someone is in her room watching her at night, and a warning to trust no one, she slowly uncovers the truth of a murder unsolved and lands right in the path of danger. With a Paris book, I know to immediately start questioning everyone and their motives from page one. Despite knowing that someone is lying and dangerous, I was left guessing until the end of the book. She writes so well and with such tension that I was jumpy and glad I wasn’t home alone that night. An engaging, edge-of-your-seat mystery.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Australia for the opportunity to read and review this book.
